TIPS for making webseries:

1. Use your creativity and imagination -
DON'T stay static just because the screen size is small.

2. Click here for a list of websites I recommend you to visit to get an idea of what is being done.

3. For great instructions on getting your own pieces on the web goto the FLICKTIPS on The New Venue.

BACKGROUND:
Director Tara Veneruso: I began directing webseries in March 1997. At that time there were no sites that had running video that we could find. Of course they existed as early as 1992, but we had trouble locating them in 1996 when we began the process. In 1994, Jay Ashcraft (founder of internetv.com) and I tried an experiment. He was working with VR (virtual reality) technology and came across CU-SeeMe software that allowed users around the world to see and talk to each other. He arranged an event with the University of Texas to interview a band - Toad the Wet Sprocket - and cast it over the internet with CU-SeeMe. Other viewers also using CU-SeeMe could ask quesitons across the world and still be seen by us. Webcasting was not yet a word. I interviewed the band and fielded questions from Hong Kong and beyond. Everyone had a camera set-up so we could see who was talking.

This technology is currently held up by the majority of using having slow band width. If you are using a DSL line or cable modem you can certainly see the possibilities of where we may head with the convergence of media.
